How to Recognize and Correct Artifacts on Contrast-Enhanced Mammography

چکیده

Abstract Contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM) has emerged as an important new technology in breast imaging. It can demonstrate a number of imaging artifacts that have the potential to limit interpretation by either obscuring or potentially mimicking disease. Commonly encountered on CEM include patient motion (ripple and misregistration), pectoral highlighting artifact, implant halo corrugation cloudy fat contrast (retention contamination), skin (skin line enhancement overexposure), lesions. Skin lesions may variety appearances both benign malignant etiologies. is technologist, radiologist, physicist be aware affect understand their causes solutions.

An introduction to contrast enhanced spectral mammography

Contrast enhanced spectral mammography (CESM) is a new technology, gaining acceptance throughout Europe and the USA, but only recently introduced to the UK. GE Healthcare is currently the only UK vendor of CESM, using the brand name Senobright. In this article, we will explore the theory behind the technology and the practicalities of performing the test. A brief literature overview is provided...

Burst imaging: rotation artifacts and how to correct them.

The effect of coherent rotational motion on images acquired with the ultrafast single-shot spin-echo Burst sequence has been analyzed. Previous experience has demonstrated that sample rotation during Burst experiments has the potential to cause severe image artifacts. In this paper we show that no distortions are visible when the readout gradient is parallel to the rotation axis, but that there...

Dual-energy contrast-enhanced mammography.

The degree of vascularization in breast lesions is related to their malignancy. For this reason, functional diagnostic imaging techniques have become important in recent years. Dual-energy contrast-enhanced mammography is a new, apparently promising technique in breast cancer that provides information about the degree of vascularization of the lesion in addition to the morphological information...

Quantitative contrast-enhanced mammography for contrast medium kinetics studies.

Quantitative contrast-enhanced mammography, based on a dual-energy approach, aims to extract quantitative and temporal information of the tumour enhancement after administration of iodinated vascular contrast media. Simulations using analytical expressions and optimization of critical parameters essential for the development of quantitative contrast-enhanced mammography are presented. The proce...
